riding the waves

Yesterday, just at about noon, I suddenly felt like I was on a boat in the midst of a rocky ocean. Yep, my first “real” earthquake. At first they said it was a 5.8, now they are calling it a 5.4. Either way, it was big, and it scared the crap out of me!

The epicenter was in Chino Hills, which is about 30 miles from my home. Luckily, there was not a lot of damage, even near the center. At my home, a few things fell off my built in bookshelf, some sewing tools fell off my table in my studio, and my sketchbook and some papers fell off my dining table. Not bad. But it still took me most of the day to get my legs feeling like they were on solid ground again.

I hope if you were involved that your home survived equally well!

circus freaks

One of the highlights at the Renegade Craft Fair in San Francisco was the band Mucca Pazza. They just totally took over the joint on Sunday afternoon. The best way to describe them is a punk, circus, gypsy music, marching band. Oh, and with cheerleaders. That’s right. Cheerleaders. They were so amazing to watch.

I did capture some of their performance on my camera, while standing on my chair in my booth, but it just doesn’t quite illustrate what they do. So below, please enjoy this video I found on YouTube from last year’s tour of the East Coast.

I love their mish-mash recycled band uniforms, especially those topped off with helmets and mini amplifiers strapped to their heads. They so kick ass.

thank you san francisco!

Wow, I feel like I’m just now getting back into the swing of things! Sorry for the delay in posts!

Renegade San Francisco rocked the house! Thank you SO much to all the folks in San Francisco who came out to the show. It was a huge success and I can’t wait to do it again next year.

I had such a great time being next to my friend Jenifer of sprout studio. She and her man were very hospitable, putting me up the whole weekend. And mr. sprout was a trooper, running to get us ladies all that we needed all weekend long. Thanks!

And if that wasn’t enough, I got to meet their new [new to me] neighbors who fed me my first nectarine! And it wasn’t just a nectarine, it was a nectarine pie! Delicious!

Thanks again to everyone in the bay area who stepped it up and came out to this amazing show! See you again soon!!!
