25 things i love… #25 - you

Yes, you! If it weren’t for you, right now, reading my blog and buying my book and taking my classes, etc… where would I be? The endless support from friends, family, students, and customers is so amazing and I couldn’t do this without you all.

I look forward to another fantastic season of classes, a new collection of fall/winter clothes, and constant surprise and inspiration I get from my students.

Right about now I am likely in the air, traveling back to Los Angeles. Thank you all for your thoughts and wishes and I will see you soon!

25 things i love… #23 - bjork

One of the most beautiful voices on the planet belongs to Bjork. She’s sublime. And she has no fear when it comes to fashion, which I totally applaud.

25 things i love… #22 - my students

Where would I be without my students? I really appreciate their hard work to learn a new skill. They could be at home watching television and eating bon bons, but no, after working all day they came to my class to learn something valuable to enhance their lives. I admire their determination and applaud their results!

Want to take a class with me? Check out my schedule and sign up for one today! Spaces are limited and usually fill up, so don’t wait! If you’re just starting out, try my Sewing 101 classes. If you’ve got basic skills, you can pull off any of my garment classes, as they are all designed for beginners. Hope to see you new folks and my loyal repeat students in a class when I return! Check out the handiwork of some recent classes…

25 things i love… #21 - elsa klensch

If it weren’t for this woman, who knows where I’d be today. She brought me into the studios of major designers everywhere and showed me what real fashion shows looked like. My Saturday mornings weren’t spent watching kids stuff… I loved Style with Elsa Klensch on CNN. Enjoy her final show from 1989 where she recaps 1980’s fashion.

25 things i love… #17 - sassy ladies

It’s an art really… to pull of sass, intelligence, class, elegance, and charm all at once. Few ladies can do it right. Here’s a couple of my favorites…

In this clip of note- one of the dancers (whom she leans on at 2:07) is George Chakiris, who plays Bernardo, that you see 7 years later in the next sassy lady clip, from the 1961 film version of West Side Story. He’s also one of the ballet dancers that carries Marylin Monroe in Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend, and is a back up dancer in the fantastic Les demoiselles de Rochefort, starring Catherine Deneuve.

Please, how can you beat Rita Moreno’s portrayal of Anita? You can’t. She’s the bomb.

OH HOW I’LL BELIEVE IN THOSE PEANUTS!!!

Kim Novak is so great in this underrated film, which has always been on heavy rotation in my house.
