Skyline Tee - V-Neck Only - Virtual Workshop

Skyline Tee - V-Neck Only - Virtual Workshop

$50.00

Requested by the previous Skyline Tee class, this is a one-day workshop where I will demo the V-Neck options ONLY. Please note we will not be discussing how to use stretch stitches, or how to sew the rest of the pattern, as that was done already in the previous sessions. Students in the Skyline Tee class will get priority registration, then it will open to the public. If you were not in the Skyline Tee, and are comfortable with sewing knits, and just want to learn how to sew the V-Neck portion, this is for you!

This is a 1-part class, with 2 hours of class time.

Workshop Dates:

  • Monday, May 20, from 6:30-8:30pm Eastern - Construction class 1

What You Will Learn:

  • Using a serger or a regular home sewing machine to sew a knit V-Neck tee neckline

Skill Level:

  • Confident Beginner: This workshop is perfect for someone who has sewn a few beginner garments in the past, & already knows how to work with knits, but just wants to learn the V-Neck steps.

Supply List:

  • The Skyline Tee pattern (bust 31 - 61.5”)

  • 7/8 - 2 5/8 yards of fabric, depending on the size & options you are making. This fabric should be a medium or lightweight knit fabric. Lighter weight fabrics & those with a lot of drape are trickier to work with. If this is your first time working with knits, I recommend getting a cotton & spandex blend.

    • Also note: knit fabrics shrink more than wovens, so getting a little extra yardage is recommended.

  • Thread

Tool List:

  • Sewing machine with zigzag stitches &/or stretch stitches. A serger can also be used for seams. Note: if this is your first time using your regular machine for knits, please have your sewing machine manual on hand.

  • Iron & ironing board (pressing ham is recommended)

  • Sewing machine needle - a jersey or stretch needle for the weight of your fabric

  • Twin sewing machine needle - optional for hems & topstitching neckline

  • Full sized scissors & small scissors for trimming (highly recommended)

  • Seam gauge or small ruler

  • Clear ruler, at least 2” x 18” (for putting your pattern pieces on grain during cutting)

  • Flexible tape measure

Please note: tools & supplies are sold separately & are not included in the class fee

Virtual Workshop Details:

  • Workshops are taught by me, Christine Haynes, live from my home studio

  • Attendance is limited to 14 students to ensure personal one-on-one attention

  • Workshops are led virtually through Zoom, a free video conferencing software that can be downloaded here

  • Students will need access to a computer, smart phone, or tablet with internet access to participate in the workshop (note: the bigger your screen, the easier it is to see the action!)

  • I teach using two cameras, so you can always see a close up of each step being taught, as well as have face to face interaction

  • A Zoom link & password will be emailed a day ahead of the first class session to the email address used in checkout, so be sure to type your email correctly upon checkout

  • Workshop sessions will be recorded so students that get behind, or need to miss a session, can rewatch the previous lesson & catch up

  • The focus of my workshops are on construction & technique. Fit is discussed, but due to the nature of Zoom workshops, fitting instruction is limited

Return Policy:

Please note that there are no returns or refunds on workshops. The number of students is limited to ensure a good learning experience for each student, so when you reserve your spot, that is held for you, whether you attend or not. If you cannot attend the classes live during their scheduled time, students will still be able to learn by following along with the workshop recordings. Thank you for understanding!
